In the United States, those who fully trust the country's army have become a minority, and the main reason for this, according to them, is the politicization of the military leadership, according to the annual research of the Ronald Reagan Foundation and Institute, which was made public this week.

In the 2022 survey, 48 percent of those surveyed said that they had a lot of confidence in the army, compared to 70 percent four years ago. 62 percent of those surveyed said that the reason for the loss of trust is the politicization of the army's leadership, and 59 percent said that the poor performance of President Joe Biden as the commander-in-chief of the army contributed to this.

Fifty percent said that the impact of the so-called "woke exercise", which includes the principles of inclusion, equality and diversity, on military effectiveness was the reason for the wavering of their trust, while in the case of 46 percent "far-right and other extreme people" serving in the military ” undermined the previous trust.

In addition, the U.S. military's performance in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the decline in faith in the military's striking capabilities, were factors that reduced confidence.

Only 13 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 who took part in the survey said that they were absolutely ready or simply willing to serve in the military. According to the analysis, this points to why the armed forces have not been able to replenish their personnel for many years.

57 percent of all respondents said that the United States should continue to support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. Thirty-nine percent think that the country has sent an adequate amount of aid so far, but about 25-25 percent of people think that the United States has given Ukraine too little or too much aid.

The majority, 60 percent, have a favorable image of NATO, while 23 percent have an unfavorable image. Seventy-one percent support the addition of Finland and Sweden to the North Atlantic Organization, while 61 percent view Ukraine's application to join positively.

The Reagan National Defense Survey, an annual nationwide survey conducted in mid-November, has been conducted by the Ronald Reagan Institute since 2018. Its purpose is to assist elected and other officials and organizations in making decisions on military matters.
