Hungary is still ready to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, stated the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for church and ethnic relations at the launch of the blood donation truck of the Hungarian Red Cross and another aid shipment in Budapest on Monday.

Miklós Soltész, who is also the president of the National Humanitarian Coordination Council (NHKT), said that Hungary is carrying out the largest humanitarian action of the past thirty years since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Six large charitable organizations provide assistance in this work: the Hungarian Red Cross in the capital's BOK hall and Lónya, the Református Szeretszolgált in Záhony, the Catholic Charity in Barabás, the Hungarian Maltese Charity in Beregsurány, the Ecumenical Aid Organization in Beregszász and the Baptist Charity in Tiszabec.

Miklós Soltész emphasized that 3,100 tons of aid shipments worth HUF 7.2 billion have been delivered to Transcarpathia so far, and 460,000 people have been helped by charitable organizations.

The state secretary touched on the fact that now it seems that the Ukrainians are waiting as long as possible, they want to stay in place, but this is precisely why a huge humanitarian disaster is present in their lives, and the Hungarian government, together with aid organizations, is trying to alleviate this.

Hungary has always said and proved with actions that it is ready to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine. He will not do one thing: deliver soldiers and weapons to the country, which is in line with the opinion of the Hungarian people - stressed Miklós Soltész.

"We believe that sooner or later Brussels will also recognize the importance of the fact that if they make decisions that hit certain countries with sanctions, they will also notice that aid can be less and less effective", since every country can help as long as own economic and financial situation allows

he said.

Miklós Soltész also reported that the amount of donations in the aid program for the Subcarpathian Bridge exceeded HUF one billion.

István Kardos, the director general of the Hungarian Red Cross, said that the blood donation truck donated to the Subcarpathian organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross and the new aid shipment will leave for Transcarpathia on Monday morning, the current aid shipment is worth HUF 100 million.

The director general added: as a member of the NHKT, the Hungarian Red Cross considers it important to provide unified and coordinated assistance, and since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, HUF 300 million worth of aid shipments have been delivered to the partner organization in Subcarpathia.
