According to market estimates, almost 100,000 motorists canceled their mandatory insurance that expires at the end of the year by December 1st, and they have until midnight on December 31st to conclude a new insurance contract.

The Hungarian Association of Independent Insurance Bargainers (FBAMSZ) warned in a statement that those who fail to conclude the new contract will be left without coverage as of January 1st. By doing so, you are taking a serious risk, and you will also be forced to pay a multiple of the normal fee afterwards, according to the rules for the lack of coverage fee.

Motorists changing contracts have until March 1st to pay the first installment. At the same time, customers who remain with their insurance company must settle the insurance premium according to the normal procedure, by the end of January at the latest.

According to the association, it is advisable to investigate the fate of the contract even in the event that someone has arranged for his new compulsory motor vehicle liability insurance contract in time, but has not received feedback from the insurance company or intermediary broker about the conclusion of the contract.
