The subsidies offered by the Hungarian village program have an impact on all settlements with less than 5,000 inhabitants, said the government commissioner responsible for the development of modern settlements in a video published on his Facebook page on Saturday.
Alpár Gyopáros emphasized that even in the current difficult situation, the villages are not left alone, the government still maintains the goal of improving the quality of life of the people living in the villages.
He said that village chocolate helped more than 36,000 rural families create homes.
He also mentioned that more than 3,000 kilometers of renovated inferior roads were completed in the program, as well as that the development and reopening of small village shops were supported as part of the program. In the next few days, small shops can submit another application for operating subsidies.
Alpár Gyopáros added,
Support was made available to 8,000 small village businesses with the involvement of European Union funds, in order to protect jobs in small settlements and help create new ones.
Their most important objective from the beginning is to stop the population loss in Hungarian villages - stated the government commissioner, who also pointed out that positive feedback on the effectiveness of the program is that in 1,200 settlements with a population of less than 5,000 the trend has reversed and their population numbers have started to increase after many years.
"The Hungarian village program gave faith and hope to our villages", however, there is still more to do, so we will continue the work - said Alpár Gyopáros.
The region will continue to enjoy priority support from the government despite the difficult economic situation, the government commissioner said on his social media page.
