The court decision in the case of the Úzvölgy military cemetery is final, according to which the illegally erected Romanian Orthodox concrete crosses must be demolished. On Friday, the Bákó County Court ruled the appeal unfounded, and at the same time confirmed the first-instance verdict favorable to Csíkszentmárton, with which the judiciary ordered the demolition.

The Hungarian military cemetery has been the site of several Romanian nationalist commemorations in recent years.

Inferring from this, it can also be expected that anti-Hungarian organizations will try to prevent the execution of the court verdict.

Dormánfalva lost several other lawsuits against Csíkszentmárton, reminds the Transylvanian portal Maszol. In March of last year, the Moinesti Court decided that the ownership right of the Bákó county town over the Úzvölgy cemetery should be deleted from the land register. Prior to this, in October 2021, the Bákó District Court annulled the decision of the municipal representative body, which declared the Úzvölgy military cemetery in the Csíkszentmárton village in Hargita County as public property of the city.

The mayor's office in Csíkszentmárton was represented in the case of the Úzvölgy military cemetery by the lawyer of the Mikó Imre Legal Protection Service, Júlia Kiss, a lawyer from Cluj. Erika Benkő, the head of the legal protection service, told Krónika that she sees Friday's court decision as a milestone, which has indicative value.

We must never acquiesce in injustice, but must use all the legal means at our disposal to oppose the deprivation of rights for the community. The case of the Úzvölgy crosses affects the whole of Transylvanian Hungarians, therefore this positive decision is the merit and joy of the entire community

- said the former representative of the Hungarian Democratic Association in Romania. Erika Benkő expects that the mayor's office in Csíkszentmárton will probably resort to bailiffs in the matter of demolishing the concrete crosses.
