"I don't know if moldy vegetables and fruits are eaten in the country of origin of this economic operator, and if it also happens there that the prices displayed on the shelf do not match those displayed at the cash register - the national president of consumer protection spoke thoroughly to the German company.

The Romanian consumer protection authority fined several stores of the Lidl store chain, and suspended the activities of 38 until the deficiencies are corrected.
The president of consumer protection, Horia Constantinescu, accused the store chain, among other things, of selling moldy vegetables and fruit.

Transtelex.hu. reminded that since the beginning of the year, 307 inspections were carried out in Lidl supermarkets nationwide, as a result of the inspections, a total of 481 fines worth 7.3 million lei were imposed, warnings were issued in 133 cases, and goods worth a total of 125,000 lei were withdrawn from circulation. (One lei is 78 forints.) At the same time, the consumer advocates ordered the suspension of the activities of 38 Lidl stores until the deficiencies are corrected. They are located in Bucharest and in the counties of Arad, Brasó, Fehér, Maros, Bihar, Szatmár, Szilágy, Beszterce-Naszód, Krassó-Szörény, Hunyad, Neamţ, Iaşi, Konstanca, Olt, Dolj, Prahova and Ilfov. One of the shops in Báko was closed for six months.

Moldy vegetables, expired products

The president of consumer protection, Horia Constantinescu, also spoke, who said that he did not know whether "in this economic operator's country of origin, moldy vegetables and fruits are eaten, or whether it also happens there that the prices displayed on the shelf do not match those displayed at the checkout .”

Will things be handled in the same superficial and disinterested way even after the official inspection and sanctions?

he poked at Lidl. Among the errors in the inspected stores, the expired warranty was the most typical. Other anomalies: unpackaged baked goods were stored in dusty, dirt-filled crates; the freezer cases and chests were damaged, not disinfected, dusty and rusty; unlabeled, damaged packaging products were distributed, the quality of the vegetables and fruits did not correspond to the indicated quality class, the price of certain products was not indicated; did not comply with the rules related to promotions; in many cases, there was a discrepancy between the prices displayed on the shelf and those displayed at the checkout; the origin of the products was not indicated.

This is not the first case, last August, several Lidl stores were fined a total of 3.5 million lei by consumer advocates due to the irregularities discovered.
