Katalin Novák gave a speech at the UN Committee on Women's Affairs, where she spoke in favor of a ceasefire and peace, while quoting the words of Pope Francis. According to the Hungarian head of state, women should be supported so that they can decide for themselves whether they want children in addition to their career. He also added that the traditional family model and the countries that support it are under attack today.

We are used to the fact that war always means the defeat of humanity. There is no just war - Katalin Novák quoted the words of Pope Francis at one of the largest events of the United Nations (UN), the 67th meeting of the organization's women's committee.

The Hungarian head of state emphasized that we have been living in the shadow of the war for a year now, the end of which is not yet in sight.

There is no life whose taking can be justified by war - the head of state repeated the words of the Holy Father.

War affects families the most. Women lose their husbands and sons, while young people lose their faith in the future, emphasized the head of state.

Here at the UN, I would like to say again: we want peace - emphasized Katalin Novák.

He added: We mothers, we Christians, we Hungarians do not want to fuel this war, we want it to end.

Regarding women's empowerment, Katalin Novák said "we cannot effectively support women until we take into account that women can also be mothers, which is a privilege that most of us want to enjoy".

We allow women to make their own decisions, both in terms of career and motherhood, he said.

Katalin Novák emphasized that women lead the army and country, run companies, and are also irreplaceable members of the family.

As he continued: Women must be supported in daring to start a family. The President of the Republic cited our country as an example to be followed, where around six percent of the budget is spent on supporting families.

Our principle is that women and families who have children should be better off than if they don't, he said.

Judeo-Christian culture is under attack today. Families with a mother, father and children are under attack today. Many people consider traditional families to be outdated, even though our core values do not become obsolete over time. Families must be protected, he underlined.

He added:

Many people attack the Hungarian model and the way we raise our children, often those who don't even have children.

We are determined in this struggle, we will protect our children, our culture, our traditions and our freedom. We are not running away, but we are waiting for our comrades, all allies with common sense and good intentions - Katalin Novák concluded her speech.
