A letter from readers advocating the Peace Process has been received by our editors, which we are publishing:

Civil Solidarity Forum Leaders!

I am addressing you as a citizen concerned about the future.

I believe that in connection with the war conflict in Ukraine, the time has come for civilians who want peace to make their voices heard. Now would be the right time to organize one or more large Peace Marches, not only in Budapest, but in as many European capitals and large European cities as possible. Especially in Brussels, Strasbourg, Berlin and as many European capitals as possible.

The population of European countries must be shaken up so that as many as possible realize that neither side can win the war conflict in Ukraine with weapons. Only a compromise solution is possible, the beginning of which is an armistice and peace negotiations, and the basis of which is the understanding that the escalation and expansion of the war may have unforeseeable consequences.

We don't want World War III! We don't want nuclear war! Two world wars should be more than enough in Europe to see that a third world war - whoever might win it in the end - would cause unimaginable destruction on the continent and probably in the whole world! So it won't have a winner in the end. Let's stop this crazy process while we still can! - Such and similar slogans should be used to draw the attention of the European public to the fact that the leaders of the world, and especially the leaders of the European Union, are playing with fire.

I have no experience in organizing such an event, but you do, at least in Hungary. The experience gained in the campaign for the autonomy of national minorities could be used here as well, so that the voice of the sober, quiet, but I hope, the majority can be heard throughout Europe.

I hope that such a thought has already formed in you. Unfortunately, due to lack of experience in such matters, I can only give my ideological support.

Best regards:
