The Transylvanian Hungarians never accepted injustice and oppression, they sought to reach an agreement with the Romanian majority, and they strive to build a future in which there is a place for all ethnicities, Kelemen Hunor, president of the RMDSZ, emphasized in his message published on the occasion of the Hungarian national holiday on Wednesday.

Citing the 12-point manifesto of the March youth, the politician pointed out: the lines urging peace, freedom and harmony have not worn off even after 175 years, these goals must be fought for without pause.

"In the shadow of the war taking place in our neighborhood, we could wish for nothing but peace today. Russia's aggression against Ukraine has been going on for more than a year, but we have stood for the same thing from the first moment: no country has the right to invade another country's existence, kill or expel its civilian population. Peace is urgently needed," stated the president of the RMDSZ. He added that the fragility of freedom can only really be seen in the current times of war.

He assessed it as follows: despite the recent flare-up of Hungarian hatred, the Hungarians in Romania have reason to be hopeful. Regarding the agreement, he believed that it can only be strengthened by creating mutual trust, but according to him, we finally managed to reach a consensus on this with the Romanian partners, a big breakthrough can be achieved in the next decade, for this we need to be able to make good use of the available budget and EU resources for the development of our community.

He encouraged the Transylvanian Hungarians to remember their revolutionary days and the great struggle that shaped Hungarians into a modern nation at this year's March 15 celebrations throughout Transylvania. "May this amazing act still float in front of us like a lighthouse and strengthen us in the belief that even from the perspective of 175 years we can give back the hope that

at home, in the homeland, it is possible and worthwhile to plan, it is possible to live a good and full life.

Long live the youth of March! Long live our ever-fighting and freedom-loving community!" – concluded his March 15 message by the president of the RMDSZ.
