A significant majority of sure voters, 58 percent, support Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, while 18 percent of those polled would like to see his former challenger, Péter Márki-Zay, in the position of prime minister, according to the latest public opinion poll conducted by the Fundamental Rights Center, with a survey of 1,000 people, the results of which were announced on Saturday. MTI.

According to the written summary, the popularity of Viktor Orbán is unbroken even a year after the 2022 parliamentary elections, and six out of ten Hungarians still welcome him as prime minister.

The prime minister, who has been in office since 2010, enjoys more support in all social groups than his former challenger, the failed prime minister candidate of the left, they wrote.

Among the reasons for this, the legal analysis institute mentions the pro-peace attitude shown in connection with the war in Ukraine, the active protection of jobs, the extended family policy measures, the 13th month pension or the action against inflation caused by the failed Brussels sanctions.

As indicated, these are all matters in which the majority of Hungarian voters share the position of the national side, while rejecting the proposals of the opposition.

The support of Fidesz-KDNP is 42 percent, while the opposition alliance would reach 25 percent if the election were held this Sunday.

According to the findings of the Center for Fundamental Rights, based on these, it can be seen that a successful policy can only be implemented in Hungary if it is based on national interests and not on dollars coming from abroad and flowing through several channels.

The situation is aggravated by the behavior of the opposition on Friday, which ignored the Hungarian national interest, as a result of which they did not vote for the pro-peace resolution of the governing parties, while they supported their own amendments advocating the arms deliveries, the statement says.

According to their description, Péter Márki-Zay's popularity index is persistently low, in contrast to the prime minister's numbers.

In the second week of 2022, the failed candidate for prime minister of the left was supported by 26 percent of active voters, but during the campaign he made countless communication errors, offending almost every social group with his outbursts: he called the reduction in utilities and the temporary official price restrictions of basic foodstuffs stupid, and he called the 13th monthly pension, and he also spoke about the fact that he does not consider the minimum wage necessary, would abolish the child protection law, would accept migrants, but he also hinted that he considers who is Jewish and who is not Jewish in Fidesz - the communique listed.

They also believed that Péter Márki-Zay's scandalous political appearances were only exacerbated by the party financing scandal known as the rolling dollars and its consequence, pro-war politics.

Those involved in the scandal sought to replace the democratically elected national government with the help of mostly foreign resources. In exchange for foreign dollars, the left expressed a position contrary to Hungarian interests and public opinion, supporting the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on several occasions. The current support of Péter Márki-Zay, barely 18 percent, faithfully reflects the "success" of the left's politics so far, and the general rejection of the opposition parties, the summary reads.

Regarding the methodology of the poll, it was announced that March 27–29. between 2008 and 2011, it was made by telephone data collection using the CATI method, the sample of 1,000 people is representative of the population over 18 years of age.
