The fact that the European Parliament (EP) continues to push for the same non-working solutions regarding illegal immigration as before is only prolonging the migration crisis, said Balázs Hidvéghi, a member of the European Parliament (EP) of Fidesz, on Sunday, Kossuth Rádió Vasárnapi Újság in his show.

The politician highlighted that eight years ago, since the beginning of the migration crisis, the EP position has been pushing for the same ineffective solutions: distribution and the determination that migrants arriving in Europe must be received by different member states. He noted that a state of emergency has been declared in Italy because of the unsustainable situation, because three to four times as many people are coming to Italian shores via the Mediterranean Sea than a year before.

According to Balázs Hidvéghi, the real solution, the beginning of curbing human trafficking and illegal entry attempts, would be if the emphasis were placed on border protection, and the basic principle would finally be established that it is not possible to come to the European Union (EU) illegally, in violation of the law, and if someone arrives in this way, they will be transported back to where they started.

He spoke of the fact that many people enter the EU and stay here as a problem. This should be fixed, but the pro-immigration part of the EP does not think so and continues to push for bad solutions, he said. Also with the votes of the Hungarian left-wing MEPs, who did not say no to these proposals during Thursday's voting, he added.

Manfred Weber, the president of the European People's Party, in response to the statement about the construction of border fences, said, "Manfred Weber has already said a lot in recent years, he is more of a maneuvering type of politician and now he feels that the wind of the times demands that he also now turn around and start talking about border protection and fences".

He previously attacked Hungary and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for his decisions to strengthen border protection - pointed out Balázs Hidvégi, who says that there is some kind of shift and this is to be welcomed, but at the same time, the parliamentary position that was adopted does not say this and continues to put the emphasis in the wrong place.

He stated that not taking our own laws and regulations seriously only prolongs the migration crisis. If we don't comply and don't comply, then we can't expect it to end, because the immigrants will take advantage of it, most of whom are not refugees, but simply economic immigrants, said the Fidesz politician, adding: immigrants take advantage of Europe's weakness and in cooperation with people smugglers and the NGOs that often help them, they arrive en masse in Europe in violation of the law.

He pointed out: this is the problem, which they are unfortunately still far from solving.

In connection with the case related to the travels of several officials of the European Commission, he spoke about: this is another proof that there is systemic corruption in Brussels. "We have said this from the beginning.

It's not that one or two representatives stumbled, gave in to temptation and accepted bribe money, but that it is increasingly visible: the entire political decision-making process in Brussels is corrupt."

- said Balázs Hidvéghi, who says that the sign of this is that they are abusing their power in a number of issues, for example, they are waging a campaign of political revenge against Hungary and Poland, they are blackmailing and threatening.

Balázs Hidvégi highlighted: a "snap answer" can be given to this in the 2024 EP elections. Then we need to answer the problems and these systemic abuses that we are experiencing, he said.
