In the first week of the counties that have joined the primary care service since May, doctors, ambulance officers and professionals provided emergency assistance to 598 patients in Békés county and 619 patients in Komárom-Esztergom county, the National Ambulance Service issued information.

According to the report, the majority of patients visited one of the county's on-call locations due to mild complaints, but at the same time, in 60 cases in Békés county and 46 cases in Komárom-Esztergom county, assistance was provided by sending an emergency car to the patient's apartment.

In the majority of cases, on-call care proved to be sufficient, hospital referral was necessary for less than 10 percent of the patients, they added.

The number 1830 worked properly everywhere, 15 percent of the people treated in the medical emergency were children, they wrote.

They explained that in order to ensure the smooth operation of the primary care on-call system, it is still necessary to conclude contracts with external doctors.

After Hajdú-Bihar, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Győr-Moson-Sopron and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, the counties of Békés and Komárom-Esztergom also joined the new, unified primary care emergency system from May 1. More than 38,000 patients have been helped in the six counties since February 1, and public feedback regarding the quality of care is positive, reads the announcement of the ambulance service.
