The National Forum Association held a national meeting in Budapest on Saturday, the preparation for next year's local government election also played an important role in the meeting, Sándor Lezsák, the president of the organization, told MTI on Sunday. According to the president, they must find candidates who can represent the spirit of the National Forum and participate in the work of local governments.

According to the announcement, Sándor Lezsák recalled at the meeting: the National Forum was formed in the midst of rather difficult circumstances from members expelled from the MDF, as well as former representatives who left due to the exclusions. However, over time it has been proven that we cannot be excluded from our past, he added. Only the personality, the person, can determine the weight and value of the National Forum, he declared, and then he praised the candidates who were able to stand their ground in any situation.

Sándor Lezsák emphasized that the candidates of the National Forum are gaining strength in the cities and smaller settlements, citing Békés county as an example, where several of their organizations were founded.

He also reported on the foreign relations system of the National Forum, whose important elements are translation camps, and their organization also played a role in the policy of opening up to the East, he said. He emphasized: preparing for the 2024 local government elections, they must find candidates who can represent the spirit of the National Forum and participate in the work of local governments.

Zoltán Bíró, the founding president of the Hungarian Democratic Forum, said at the national assembly that Europe has been hit by three issues from which it is difficult to recover: migration, gender and war. Hungary promotes peace in every forum, this is a fair attitude, he added .

At the meeting, some officials of the National Forum reported on their activities, and then accepted the previous year's financial report and the program of the work plan for next year's elections.
