In the past year, we have learned that Qatar is a key country for Europe, and the European economy replaced a considerable part of the missing Russian gas with LNG gas coming from here, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video uploaded to Facebook on Monday. The Prime Minister announced: Hungary will also buy gas from Qatar in the future.

The Prime Minister traveled to Doha on Sunday, where he will participate in an official visit at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Qatar, and will speak at the Qatar Economic Forum at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar.

In his video on Monday, Viktor Orbán talked about the fact that he had a long, exhausting and productive negotiation with the country's leader, the Emir of Qatar.

"Over the past year, we have learned that Qatar is a key country for Europe. The European economy replaced the significant part of the missing Russian gas with the LNG gas coming from here," the Prime Minister added.

The Prime Minister emphasized: Qatar is a country with outstanding economic performance, which is present in all parts of the world. In addition, he belongs to the peace camp, "he is interested in ending the Russian-Ukrainian war as soon as possible, and he is willing to play a role in this, that is, in mediating the peace negotiations."

According to the Prime Minister, an agreement was reached on energy cooperation.

"We will also buy gas from here, standing on several legs is always better than standing on one," he said.

"We agreed on infrastructure development, airport development, cooperation in the communications industry, and we even made agreements in agriculture. A good perspective has opened up for the Qatari-Hungarian economic cooperation," declared Viktor Orbán.
