More than six hundred civil donors and more than two hundred manual workers and master woodcarvers participated in the project, the highlight of which of the Sokoró Gate on Saturday afternoon.

The idea comes from local entrepreneur Péter Vajda ( we wrote about it HERE ), who started the construction process together with several local entrepreneurs. The investment of around HUF 30 million was realized entirely through civil cooperation. The dreamer of the goal expressed his joy that they were able to do something about Sokorópátka for the Hungarians who remained abroad.

– It came from our souls that we wanted to create something, and wherever this symbol stands, it communicates about Hungarianness. The gate of Sokoró was built 100% with civil cooperation, there was no tender money or state support. This is how we dreamed it. Six hundred donors and two hundred workers, to whom the creation is due. What we did, we did for our nation, with good and pure intentions. Even in my childhood, I loved good fairy tales, and this gate story also ended like that.

At the same time, he said that the work was not finished by erecting a gate, they also dreamed of a park and a chapel for the area, the realization of which is still a matter of the future.

Attila Basák, the mayor of Sokorópátka, called the finished carved work a gate of togetherness in his greeting. He thanked everyone who participated in the creation of the miracle for their cooperation.

– The triumph of the heart, the triumph of the will, and the symbol of community unity that was realized here

said Ákos Kara, Member of Parliament.

Imre Vejkey, the founding chairman of the parliamentary prayer group, said about the fate of the nation: Despite our crucifixion, we were able to get up on the third day. "The St. István legacy could not be erased by force." There is no other nation that has survived similar mutilation with faith, hope and love, but not only survived, our country is seen as a point of alignment again.

Mika Heinczinger performed his song Gyöngyöt az menzán at one foot of the gate, and then Roland Tóth consecrated the gate with water drawn from the waters of the Jordan. The dreamers cut the national ribbon, while the traditionalists saluted with a cannon. At the end of the ceremony, the crowd sang the Székely national anthem.

The main patrons of the opening ceremony were Hortobágyi T. Cirill, the abbot of Pannonhalmi and brother Csaba Böjte, a Franciscan monk from Transylvania.
