On Sunday, the Titan submarine disappeared, 700 kilometers off the coast of Newfoundland, with five people on board, heading to the wreck of the Titanic. Since the submarine's disappearance, there has been little chance that the crew will be able to be rescued, despite the fact that an amazing search team has been working to search the surface and depths of the sea.

According to the US Coast Guard, a wreckage field was discovered near the Titanic during the search using the Horizon Arctic Rov remote-controlled vehicle.

The identification revealed that five pieces of Titan were discovered.

All indications are that the intruding water may have destroyed the submarine

Diving expert David Mearns, based on the evaluation of the first images taken of the wreckage and the related announcement of the Exploers Club, saw it as proven that one of the back covers of the Titan and also one of the diving frames are lying among the pieces of debris scattered on the abyssal plain among the wreckage.

The intruding and extremely high-pressure water exploded the submersible. When the connection with the Titan was lost in the 105th minute of the dive on Sunday, June 18, the submersible could have been at a depth of approximately 3,400 meters.

The Titan has been in service for two years, and this would have been her fifth dive with the Titanic. It is important to know that the submersible developed by OceanGate Expeditions has not yet received a type certification, as according to the company's officials, the new submersible, built with unconventional technology, was only in the testing phase of development since its commissioning.

The Titan also had a weak point, and it cannot be ruled out that the destruction of the submersible can be traced back to this. Compared to the "traditional" and long-standing diving units of research institutes, a relatively large panoramic window molded from Plexiglas was installed in the nose of the Titan. On the other hand, the company carrying out this only undertook a safety guarantee for the window up to a depth of 1,300 meters, but

the Titan was nevertheless used to dive to the Titanic, which is well below the safety limit given for the window.

If the window snapped due to the high pressure, at the estimated depth of 3,400 meters at the time of the disappearance, water with a pressure of 340 atmospheres entered the submersible, which could have destroyed the Titan under explosive conditions. Of course, the exact cause of the tragedy will only be able to be determined definitively by the dedicated expert investigation.

Who were on board?

One of the passengers of the submarine was 58-year-old Hamish Harding, a British billionaire businessman and explorer who is the chairman of the aircraft manufacturer Action Aviation.

Next to him is Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, curator of the SETI Institute, and his son Suleman. Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate – the company organizing the mission – was also on the ship. The fifth passenger is the 73-year-old French explorer Paul-Henry Nargeolet.

Suleman Dawood wanted to please his father just because of Father's Day

Azmeh Dawood, the older sister of Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, said her nephew was reluctant to go on the Titan expedition, according to an NBC News article. According to Azmeh Dawood, his nephew Suleman informed a relative that he was "not in the mood" and

he was "terrified" of the trip to explore the wreck of the Titanic.

But the 19-year-old ended up going aboard OceanGate's 22-foot submarine because the trip fell on Father's Day weekend, and Azmeh said he really wanted to please his father, who was passionate about the history of the Titanic.

To think that 19-year-old Suleman is in there... It's paralyzing, to be honest."

Azmeh said in a phone interview from his home in Amsterdam.
