The Vörösmarty Mihály Memorial House in Kápolnásnyék became a historical memorial site at the suggestion of the National Memorial and Pardon Committee, based on the decision of the Hungarian government, reads the statement of the National Heritage Institute (NÖRI) sent to MTI on Tuesday.

As they write, the monument building is a significant cultural site, the largest Vörösmarty memorial in the country, and is of outstanding importance in the formation of national identity and the strengthening of Hungarian consciousness.

In the announcement, Gábor Móczár, the director general of the National Heritage Institute, is quoted as saying about the decision: he considers it extremely important that the famous sites of our history receive as much attention as possible and become part of the public consciousness not only as sites, but also as important building blocks of our Hungarianness and national identity.

"The Institute of National Heritage pays special attention to the promotion and familiarization of national and historical monuments, therefore it provides various forums for the sharing of knowledge and the transfer of the experiences of the maintainers.

Mihály Vörösmarty is such an inescapable figure in our literary history that rightly makes his birthplace a place of special historical importance"

- said Gábor Móczár.
