Katalin Cseh, the representative of Brussels in Hungary, switched to typical agent mode. No, it's not a typo, he really represents Brussels against the Hungarians. The politician of Momentum fights with reality this time and, as usual, comes up short.

He writes the following on social media:

"Viktor Orbán filled the campaign with the horror of left-wing austerity, and promised profusely that if Fidesz continued to govern, there would be no austerity - as usual, he lied cynically. After all, the Russian war in Ukraine was already going on at that time, there were sanctions - Orbán himself voted for them in the European Council - and Fidesz spent the last forints of the state coffers to increase its own chances by handing out pre-elections.

Just over two weeks ago, on June 27, Orbán said that there are no austerity measures in Hungary and there will be no austerity measures. This is a gigantic lie. By that time, more than two hundred state investments had already been frozen, or the kata had been abolished, jeopardizing the livelihood of four hundred thousand small entrepreneurs and their families overnight. And they also introduced the middle class special tax, which taxes the interest on savings. There is hardly a more classic austerity policy.

And now they have set up the working group to review public expenditures, led by Mihály Varga, whose task will be? Yes, to come up with new cuts, in the health and family-housing area. So they want to take even more from the health care sector, which is catastrophically short of funds, so that last week the government scattered a few billion, for example, to support the putty associations it loves. But they can also reduce the GYED, the drug subsidy, and the family allowance, at least if we can believe the government's decision - and why shouldn't we?

Meanwhile, they even look at us as stupid, because the government insists that this is not austerity, that only Brussels wants austerity, and hopes that if they say a lot, people will also believe that the sky is green and orange unicorns fly over it. Fidesz was able to govern as it was until the growth of the European economy dragged the Hungarians along, and free money flowed from Brussels. Now that the situation is more difficult, they are unable to find a solution: there is haste, austerity, and of course they also steal a little in the meantime, because what else would be the purpose of government, right?"
