Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Tuesday; the meeting discussed Ukraine's European integration, the reception of war refugees and other areas of Hungarian-Ukrainian cooperation - Bertalan Havasi, Deputy State Secretary in charge of the Prime Minister's Press Office, informed MTI.

During the hearing, Viktor Orbán emphasized that Hungary supports Ukraine's obtaining EU candidate status. Moreover, the bureaucratic obstacles must be dismantled as soon as possible even before Ukraine actually joins the EU. The Hungarian prime minister informed the Ukrainian head of state that he will represent this position at this week's European Union summit in Brussels.

Viktor Orbán also spoke about the fact that Hungary has now accepted nearly 800,000 Ukrainian refugees and is ready for further energy cooperation. To transport Ukrainian grain by rail and to host even more Ukrainian students. On behalf of the Ukrainian people, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Hungary for the help.
