Tamás Ugróczky from Pereny completed the 209 km distance in the Austrian mountains with a great performance.

In Austria's strongest and most famous mountain bike (MTB) competition, the Salzkammergut Trophy, 2,826 competitors from 20 nations gave an account of their knowledge and preparation over eight distances. Several iron cyclists also started, the one from Szombathely

Péter Gergácz returned home from Austria with a gold medal: he completed the 22.2 km sprint distance the fastest with a time result of 55 minutes and 58 seconds.

Balázs Szántai, also from Szombathely, started on the 55 km distance and finished 43rd in his category with a time of 3 hours and 35 minutes.

However, the performance of Tamás Ugróczky from Pereny is quite remarkable - which his family reported to Vaol. The 21-year-old sportsman - as an amateur - started on the 209 km distance. It is interesting that 471 people started the longest distance, 209 km, and only 339 reached the finish line... Which is no wonder, since the difference in level was 7008 meters (!). By the way, the winner completed the trying distance and task with a time of 9 hours and 22 minutes.

Tamás Ugróczky prepared for the competition alone, he entered the Salzkammergut Trophy after covering many, many kilometers.

The field started at 5 o'clock in the morning, and Tamás reached the finish line with a time of 15:30:39.7! By the way, he started in Salzkammergut last year as well, but then his bike broke down - the slippery, rooted, stony, rocky route certainly does not spare bicycles. Tamás deserves recognition for his physical performance - but reaching the finish line is also a triumph of will and perseverance.
