The Hungarian Prime Minister showed the former President of the EP where he belongs.
– It's good to see that Martin Schulz is back from retirement. Now he wants to decide who is European and who is not. It seems that some people simply cannot let go of communism - Prime Minister Viktor Orbán responded on his Twitter page to the statement of the former president of the European Parliament.
Nice to see that @MartinSchulz came back from retirement. Now he wants to decide who is European and who is not. It seems that some people just can't let go of #Communism 🤷♂️

In an interview with the German daily Frankfurter Rundschau, Martin Schulz said that Manfred Weber, the first man of the European People's Party, is on the wrong track when he tries to preserve the leading role of the moderate right in Strasbourg with the help of the extreme right.
"This will only mean that the next chairman of the committee will depend on Orbán and Kaczynski," added Schulz.
According to the left-wing politician, it is impossible to re-engage the Hungarian Prime Minister and the Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, in EU politics - all this is just an unrealistic dream.
"These people have no connection with Europe... They can only be won over with money, and now Orbán is trying to create the impression that he doesn't care about that either, because he is buying himself off with the Russians and the Chinese. That is why Manfred Weber's approach is wrong, and I am very curious to see how Mrs. Von der Leyen will react to this," he stated.
According to Schulz, the shift to the right began in international politics twenty years ago in Italy, with the government led by Silvio Berlusconi. "Many people followed him: Viktor Orbán, Boris Johnson, Trump, Bolsonaro, Kaczynski or Duterte," he listed.
By the way, this was not the first time that the former president of the European Parliament attacked the Hungarian prime minister. He previously accused Hungary of suppressing the press, anti-Semitism and profiteering.
Schulz also joined the Hungarian government in 2016, when he called the quota referendum initiative absurd and vile.
