They will continue to support human rights, democracy and accountable governance in the region, clarified Alissa Sadler. In addition, Brussels also thoroughly opened the money spigots for NGOs.

We wrote it : the Open Society Foundations (OSF), marked by the name of György Soros, but managed by his son Alexander, will withdraw from Europe and focus on other parts of the world in the future. According to the Free Europe article, many domestic organizations have also been notified of this.

At the same time, Alissa Sadler, the spokesperson of the OSF, wrote to hvg.hu

they will continue to support NGOs across Europe, including groups dealing with EU foreign affairs,

and they also maintain their subsidies to European Roma communities. In addition, according to his statement, they will continue to support human rights, democracy and accountable governance in the region - the latter, however, mainly in Ukraine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and the Western Balkans, through their national foundations. Moreover, the reorganization is said to have been taking place for some time, but the spokesperson did not reveal any further details to the newspaper.

The HVG also points out that the Soros foundations also support several Hungarian newspapers independent of the government: 444 received money from them, as well as the investigative papers Direkt36 and Átlátszó, so the change may affect them as well. At the same time, according to most of the organizations that spoke to the paper

The transformation has been taking place in the Open Society Foundations for years.

In their opinion, the fact that the foundations are reorganizing their operations and possibly canceling certain forms of support should not have come as a big surprise to anyone, which is why they had already started preparing to stand on more feet.

Here's the solution: even if Soros doesn't pay, money will still come from Brussels!

Paradoxically, it is partly due to financial problems

additional support from Brussels lobbied by Soros organizations may be the solution,

since the European Union significantly increased the support framework for NGOs in the new budget cycle. But they would also use other means to help the organizations that undermine the rule of law in Hungary, but paint a false picture.

The Hungarian government also responded to Soros's announcement, which shows that

they also do not expect the billionaire philanthropist's network to leave the country.

According to János Zila, an analyst at the Fundamental Rights Center, on the one hand, the departure is not complete, and on the other hand, the announcement itself says that the activities previously carried out by the Open Society Foundations will be carried out by other actors. Quoting Imre Madách's famous line, we can say that "the machine rotates, the creator rests".
