After the retirement of Mária Bicskeiné Csányi, she picked up a bow for the first time at the urging of her godson. The woman from Kiskunfélegyháza liked the sport so much that she became a regular member of the Turul Koppány Archery Traditions Preservation Sports Association over the past six years.

Mária Bicskeiné Csányi fell in love with archery during a trip to Transylvania of the Turul Koppány Archery Association. To his greatest surprise, he won second place in the competition organized for families.

Seeing my skill, the head of the association, Gyula Dinnyés, suggested that I try archery more seriously. Not long after, I was a regular participant in the training sessions. Regular practice paid off, and a year later I started the first competition of my life. Based on my scores, I won the right to compete in a national competition

- recalled the beginnings of the semi-church archer.

Mária Bicskeiné Csányi competes in the historical bow category, her results are constantly improving every year.

Last year I achieved second place at the indoor National Championship, fourth place in outdoor competitions was my best so far. Next year, I want to be on the podium, but not in the 65-plus age group, which I belong to, but in the 55-64 age group. The respectable plus category is not a challenge for me

- said Mária Csányi Bicskeiné.

The half-church archer is considered the most diligent member of the association, and also takes part in the organizational work.

The key to success is continuous practice. Before competitions, in addition to the weekly training sessions, it is also necessary to take out the bow at home, to maintain and strengthen the existing knowledge. There is always something to learn, for example, I still need to improve a lot in 3D shooting. My goal is to win the national championship. For me, the most important thing is not so much the sport and the successes, but the relationship with each other and the feeling of belonging to a community. Wherever we go in the country, it's like coming home. I still do archery now because it gives me pleasure and I relax. A big thank you goes to my family, who are forced to go without on weekends because of the archery competitions - added Mária Csányi Bicskeiné.

He also takes part in the organizational work

Marika is here at every training session, a regular participant in competitions. Takes part in paperwork, recruitment and organization. Her work can be said to be irreplaceable - Gyula Dinnyés, head of the Turul Koppány Archery Tradition Preservation Sports Association, praised the activities of Mária Bicskeiné Csányi.
