Luca Kozák advanced, Gréta Kerekes and Anna Tóth were eliminated in the 100 m hurdles on Tuesday at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

European silver medalist Luca Kozák - who was clearly hoping to advance to the start - was joined by American Nia Ali, the Doha world champion, and Polish Pia Skrzyszowska, who won European gold in Munich last year before Kozák. The two contenders, Kozák and Marione Fourie from South Africa, broke away from the others at the halfway point, and from there there was no question that they would advance with placings. Kozák secured his place in the semi-finals in fourth place with 12.71 seconds, his best this year.

On Wednesday, Kozák will run in the second semi-final scheduled for 20:53: the first two places are guaranteed to reach the final.

But for the sake of clarity, five of his direct race rivals entered with a better time than Kozák's best (12.69).
