The ultimate power in Sweden is not exercised by elected Swedish politicians, but by the Wallenberg family and American decision makers. This is what Christer Gardell, CEO of the Cevian investment fund, which manages 10 billion euros, claims in a revealing interview with the Swedish magazine Affärsvärlden .

Why is it that Sweden always has the same policies regardless of what people vote for? Because in the end, big companies and the Americans decide in the country, not Swedish politicians, says Christer Gardell, international venture capitalist and multibillionaire, CEO and founder of the Cevian fund management giant.

When Affärsvärlden asked him who "actually runs Sweden", he replied:

The Wallenbergs have a lot of power with Investor, the foundations, and their relationship with the EQT global investment fund, so it is inevitable that we put them at the top. American politicians have the second most power in Sweden.

"Swedish politicians actually have little influence, whereas American politicians have created a legal apparatus that gives them a lot of power to influence virtually anyone who deals in dollars."

In the interview, he also warns that Sweden has become a casino economy, where stock market investors no longer analyze the reports of the companies they invest in, but instead buy index funds (stock market indices of groups of companies) and the like.

According to Gardell, the dominance of these types of investors caused the collapse of the entire Stockholm Stock Exchange:

"there are no longer investors on the stock market, but gamblers".
