If we don't listen to the smart, the wise, and don't even think about their ideas to take to heart, we certainly can't predict much of a future for humanity.
Many of us like to quote poets, writers and philosophers, whose beautiful, smart and true thoughts strengthen us in spirit. We Hungarians really can't complain, we can draw a lot from our own literature and thinkers, and of course many thinkers from the wider world also "help" us in our intellectual and spiritual enrichment, whether they are living or departed spiritual greats. Wise insights often accompany us in life, we never forget them in Hungarian, and we often quote thought-provoking sayings.
One of the wise thoughts of Cicero, the ancient Roman writer and philosopher, came to mind, and the domestic events of the week behind us are "responsible".
I read in a newspaper article that Hungarian hatred was not uncommon at the Szikra Movement's Szikra Camp event, in connection with which several people asked the question, why does this company hate everything Hungarian? I couldn't answer the theoretical question myself, it's more than that the leaders of the movement didn't try to explain the reason for their hatred?
If Pious is thrown out the door, he climbs back through the window
So the deciphering is still waiting. On the same day, when it was possible to learn about the event of the mysterious company on August 20, another article may have upset the mood of the respected readers. We learned that the protagonist of the discrediting campaign against Csaba Böjte and his child protection foundation, which has been going on for quite some time, has failed. The person is said to be a journalist who specializes in such cases, since he not only attacked Böjte's foundation with zeal and a huge flood of lies, but also tried others - I think also on behalf of him. The problem with their fast was that, according to him, some people in children's homes were victims of sexual abuse.
The scribbler admitted that he lied when he wanted to discredit Father Böjte
He also tried to accuse a well-known actor of sexual abuse, which, as we know, is fashionable these days, whether it's true or not. Then something might have happened, because the dishonorable, slanderous person failed. His crime was a false accusation, which he admitted anyway.
And how does Cicero come here? Well, there's nothing new under the sun. (Unfortunately.)
He claimed that
"A nation can survive its foolish leaders, even its ambitious ones. But you cannot survive internal treason. The enemy on the frontiers is less formidable because he is known and openly carries his flag. But the traitors move freely within our borders, their sly whispers can be heard in the alleys and corridors of the government. The traitor does not look like a traitor, he speaks the language of the people, bears the face and arguments of the people, he speaks to the baseness of human nature, which lies secretly deep in the heart of every person. The traitor is rotting the soul of the nation, working secretly, at night, undermining the pillars of the nation, infecting politics so that it cannot be resisted. The killer isn't that scary. The traitor is the plague itself.”
Well, this is the message of more than two thousand years. And it is undeniably true. But if we don't listen to the smart, the wise, and don't even think about their ideas to take to heart, let alone accept them, we certainly can't predict much of a future for humanity.
