On the first of September, the 2024 call for tenders entitled "Support of civil community activities and their conditions" will be published in the framework of the Municipal Civil Fund, with a budget of HUF 4.8 billion.

The aim of the Urban Civil Fund is to support value-creating civil organizations (associations, foundations) based in settlements with a population of over five thousand through tenders, Vince Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Deputy Secretary of State for Civil and Social Relations at the Prime Minister's Office announced on Thursday. He emphasized that the government considers it important to help these organizations even in the current crisis.

Vince Szalay-Bobrovniczky recalled that in 2021 the government launched the Municipal Civil Fund program, with which it wanted to make available to value-creating civil organizations located in settlements with more than five thousand people budgetary support for the goals that the Hungarian village program Villages They can receive support at the expense of the Civil Fund since 2020.

The City Civil Fund, as the urban alternative to the Village Civil Fund, is a gap-filling application source that creates the opportunity to buy and renovate real estate, purchase a vehicle, program support, purchase equipment, and support communication activities - informed the deputy state secretary. He added that the application is extremely popular, in the first two years there were ten and eight times oversubscription.

The resources of the Municipal Civil Fund, which also enable infrastructural developments, complement well the resources of the National Cooperation Fund (increasing amount every year), which can also be used by civil organizations, and which can be used for operations, programs and events.

Vince Szalay-Bobrovniczky highlighted: a significant innovation compared to previous years is that, in several application categories, it is possible for NGOs to use the received support to finance their operating costs, for example overheads.

In addition, so-called simplified accounting will be possible in the case of grants awarded up to HUF three million, in order to reduce the administrative burden of civil organizations.

The announcement is published on the website of Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt.; it will be possible to submit applications between 10 a.m. on September 1 and 12 p.m. on October 2. The implementation period lasts until December 31, 2025, and the settlement period until March 1, 2026.
