This year, the government has once again announced a tender worth 600 million forints for the provision of services that help and facilitate the daily lives of the visually impaired and their employment, the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior responsible for care policy announced on Friday in Budapest.

Attila Fülöp said that civil and church organizations are waiting for applications "to provide basic rehabilitation services for the visually impaired"; the submission deadline is February 17.

The state secretary recalled that three years ago, the elementary vision rehabilitation service was introduced, which every visually impaired person over the age of 16 is entitled to use.

The purpose of the service is to help disabled people reintegrate into everyday life after medical rehabilitation, both in the field of independent living and employment. The service must be organized at regional or, if possible, county level, and 60,000 (service provider) hours will be provided within the framework of the tender.

Applications must be submitted to the Slachta Margit National Social Policy Institute in online form.

During last year's tender period, this service was used by 1,012 people, and the number of hours provided was almost 53,000 - explained Attila Fülöp.
