One of the important series of events of the scattered Hungarians of Southern Transylvania begins on Saturday: the 14th Hunyad County Hungarian Days will feature cultural and leisure programs in nine settlements, the organizers announced.

According to the announcement, September 16-24. in the framework of a series of events taking place between The motto of the event is: "Because we have values".

As EP representative Gyula Winkler, Hunyad county president of the Hungarian Democratic Union in Romania (RMDSZ) emphasizes in the announcement, the entire population of the scattered county is expected to attend the programs.

"During the events, concerts, cultural, sports, children's and gastronomic events we organize, we are happy to pass on as much as possible of our culture and traditions to all residents of Hunyad County."

In this way, the Hungarian community of the county pays tribute to its values, historical personalities, cultural and built heritage, and traditions, adds the politician.

The Ákos Barcsay awards will be presented in Déva on Sunday as part of the Hungarian Days. The award recognizes the activities of people working in scattered communities in Southern Transylvania who achieve outstanding performance in community-building work.

On Saturday, there will be outdoor programs in Vajdahunyad, in the castle:

the public will be treated to a cooking competition, presentations by folk dance groups, and a Republic concert in the evening. There will also be a gastronomic and cultural program in Petrozsény, and in Déva a celebratory mass at the beginning of the school year will be held in the Franciscan church.

On Sunday, the open-air exhibition of European Citizen Award-winning photographer Dávid Botond, which presents the colorful costumes of the peoples of the world, will be opened in the county seat. The Geofolk exhibition shows the folk costumes of European landscapes in around 2,000 photos. In Lupény, a cultural show will be held in the cultural palace that day.

Next week, the Hungarian Days program will continue in several settlements in the Zsil Valley and Hunyad counties. According to the data of the latest 2021 census in Hunyad county in southern Transylvania, 9,180 of the approximately 360,000 inhabitants declared themselves to be of Hungarian nationality.
