The new ministry of Tibor Navracsics can bring the solution.

The rehabilitation works were delayed in the 18th century. district, and several apartment buildings in Józsefváros were sentenced to demolition. The residents of these homes are now preparing to leave their unlivable apartments, in which they lived for the most part without heating or electricity.

From January 1, Tibor Navracsics will take over the new ministry dealing with the management of public administration systems, which is needed mainly because several districts of the capital have encountered problems in the implementation of the urban rehabilitation project. Tibor Navracsics will take over the Ministry of Autonomous Territorial Development and Public Administration from January 1.

Tibor Navracsics gets a new, independent ministry

It has been four years since the Budapest city government allowed the XVIII. social rehabilitation for the district municipality. They already won a certain amount for this purpose in the urban rehabilitation tender, which the government supplemented with an additional 450 million forints, so the municipality led by Sándor Szaniszló had around two billion forints available to carry out the project.

The city administration realized

they are running out of time allocated for rehabilitation, and many families are still shivering in unheated apartments, as the municipality cannot provide them with suitable replacement housing until they find a new home

- since their previous homes were either demolished or deemed unlivable, and therefore they were moved elsewhere - Magyar Nemzet .

Havanna and Szigony Street are also affected

After realizing the passage of time, they started to rush for rehabilitation as soon as possible, but the result was that a family with two children was left without heating in a municipal apartment in a panel house.

The property at Havanna utca 29 is located in a block of flats with district heating, but the radiators in the apartment are broken

they wrote. Tibor Kádár, a local government representative from Fidesz, stated in the matter that "the local government is obviously driven by nothing other than to get over this project". The representative also stood up for the family and wrote petitions to the municipality. After that, they were able to place the family, who had been freezing until now, in a suitable apartment.

"Impossible conditions have developed" in Szigony Street, as the fire wall in one of the apartment buildings on the street has become life-threatening, the repair of which was already started in 2021, but the work was presumably stopped due to the elections.

András Pikó, the mayor of the district, offered an exchange apartment and money to the residents of the apartment building, who chose the apartment because of the uncertainty caused by the situation.

The Fidesz representatives were outraged

Several Fidesz representatives also said that they are not satisfied with the current city administration. Tamás Vörös, the leader of the local Fidesz-KDNP faction, said

the leftist-led municipality keeps promising the needy people living in the district by providing them with rental housing and improving their conditions, even though it did not promise this in its campaign.

He added that the theory of the left-wing local government, that it would spend its money on rental apartments instead of condominium renovations, was overturned.
