Thus, the increase in excise duty does not hurt so much anymore.

An unexpected decision was made on domestic fuel prices, according to a recent data release from Holtankojak.hu. According to the fuel price monitoring blog, the year starts well from the point of view of the population in terms of fuel prices and

from Friday, the wholesale price of diesel will drop by HUF 10 gross.

The purchase price of gasoline will not change this week. So theoretically, the price of diesel per liter at Hungarian gas stations can drop by the same amount from Friday. However, it is worth reminding that the development of retail prices in the recent period differed significantly from the changes in wholesale prices, so it is certainly difficult to say what prices motorists can expect from the last working day of the week at the totem poles of gas stations.

In any case, currently the average price of a liter of 95 gasoline is HUF 562, and diesel is HUF 599.

If we take this as a basis, in addition to the stagnation of gasoline prices, the average price of diesel may drop to HUF 589. On paper, there is every chance of this, because András Orosz, Mol's retail director in Hungary, recently spoke about the fact that if the macroeconomic conditions bring about a price change in the wholesale trade, the retail market will follow suit.

Whether this really happens will be revealed on Friday, but the HUF 10 diesel price reduction is a pleasant surprise. In advance, it could be expected that, even if not markedly, a price increase of a few forints could come.

At the same time, the decline in demand for crude oil on the world market seems to be overriding these negative factors, and vehicle owners can obviously be happy about that. If only because the price increase of HUF 20 per liter in the first round, which took place in January, does not hurt so much because of the change in the excise tax.
