It is unprecedented that while the capital's citizens and businesses are complying with tax regulations, the mayor is throwing a tantrum at them, the finance minister pointed out with Világgazdaság .

Regarding the solidarity tax, Mihály Varga stated: the government does not spend it on itself, the money goes to small settlements, which - at least partially - cover the expenses of their basic public services.

The principle that the richer should support the poor meets society's sense of justice, but with Gergely Karácsony, it seems, not

he pointed. As he said, the capital cannot be partially exempted from paying taxes, based on this, the state treasury decided in December in favor of debt collection. "I hope that Gergely Karácsony has made a New Year's resolution and from now on he will pay the taxes charged to the municipality he leads," noted the head of the ministry. He added:

if not, the government follows the law according to the clear decisions of the judiciary.

In the interview, they also touched on EU funds for Hungary. - The process has accelerated in recent weeks, so HUF 520 billion has arrived from the funds withheld until January 17 - said Mihály Varga. The government is currently working to ensure that even the blocked funds are paid out.

We don't let a single euro cent go to waste

- recorded the politician. The Minister of Finance drew attention to the fact that in 2010 only three percent of the national debt was financed by the Hungarian population, today this ratio is 21 percent.

"Just stretch until your blanket reaches"

According to the ministry's estimates, annual inflation could be 5.2 percent this year, but this level cannot yet be called low, and it also carries dangers, said the minister. According to him, even a minor fluctuation in the world market or another can push Hungarian inflation to an unpleasant height.

Hungarian economic policy must bear in mind three aspects

said Mihály Varga. First, we must pay attention to the balance, for example by keeping the budget deficit low and further reducing the state's debt. On the other hand, we must keep inflation under control, and thirdly, we must strive for economic growth that is sustainable.

These aspects can be sorted out if the state manages in a disciplined way and spends to stimulate the economy, but only as much as the blanket allows

the politician pointed out. He stressed: without balance, economic growth can only be apparent.
