- In relation to the Trianon peace treaty, Hungary lost not the developed but the less developed areas - Krisztián Ungváry declared in the Frisshírek podcast, which Mandiner . According to the historian, this is like cutting off Eastern Hungary from Budapest. The Budapest taxpayer would be much better off.

The historian made a shocking statement regarding the peace treaty.

“If we were to recognize, on the one hand, that this Trianon, terrible as it was, destroyed a very large part of the population of a country, it is not so terrible as it has been made out to be. It could have been much worse"  

he said.

According to the historian, "Trianon's problem is not that they took our forests and mines, and our mountains, because they are not ours, but those who lived there. Especially in connection with the Trianon Peace Treaty, Hungary lost not the developed but the less developed areas".

As Ungváry pointed out with an example, in his opinion it is like

as if Eastern Hungary was cut off from Budapest. The Budapest taxpayer would be much better off"

he added.
