Folk dance is the ancient coded mother tongue of all children, and Hungarikum Liget was full of this language at the weekend.

Respect for tradition is a miracle that preserves the heritage of our ancestors; nowadays, however, it is no longer enough to just preserve traditions, they must be reinterpreted and formulated before they become alien to the next generations - stated Lakiteleken, the state secretary responsible for culture of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) on Sunday.

Magdolna Závogyán spoke at the folk dance troupe held in the Hungarikum Liget between February 2nd and 4th, called the Meeting of Our Living Traditions Kösöntyű Talokzója, that if the 21st century living of traditions stems from their respect, then "the source will remain clean and give us plenty of water".

He emphasized: the responsibility that rests on everyone's shoulders is great, but at the same time joyful.

"We bear responsibility for the future of our children and young people as parents, grandparents, members of our communities, teachers, cultural professionals and citizens," he added.

According to the state secretary, the formation of identity begins in the cradle. The personality is kneaded and shaped by external influences and internal processes throughout a lifetime, but according to experience, "the knowledge and behavior pattern acquired in childhood become as natural as our breathing".

Magdolna Závogyán emphasized: seeing children and young people performing folk dances is a state of grace, an incomparable miracle that overflows the heart and soul.

According to him, folk dance is the ancient coded mother tongue of every child. And the performers in Hungarikum Liget speak this language perfectly. The rhythm, the music, the movements become their blood and accompany them for a lifetime. Folk dancing children "represent our future, the future of our country," he said.

At the meeting in the Kárpátia Rendezvényház, 18 adults and 14 children's and youth folk dance groups, around 1000-1200 dancers and seven bands will take the stage from the Hungarian-inhabited areas of the Carpathian basin, including from Transylvania, the Highlands and the South.

At the meeting of traditional Hungarian folk dance ensembles, folk bands, artisans, primary producers and creative artists from the Carpathian Basin, the folk dance presentations were accompanied by exhibitions and concerts, joint prayers, as well as a fair of artisans, folk artists and small producers.

The parade was organized by the Hungarikum Liget and the Élő Forrás Tradition Preservation Association - Hunyor Folk College.
