The greatest feat was achieved by the men's relay team, which reached the quarterfinals by knocking out China, the leader of the points race.
The qualifiers for the second-to-last Dresden stop of the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup were held on Friday. Zsófia Kónya two, Balázs Bontovics and Rebeka Sziliczei-Német advanced in one number each. It is true that Liu Shaoang and Liu Shaolin, who previously competed in Hungarian colors, were not on the ice on the other side this time, either.
the Liu brothers will skip the uk weekend in Germany.
When the Liu brothers were still competing in Hungarian colors, it was quite realistic that Hungary's relay could finish ahead of China in the men's relay of a prestigious short track speed skating competition. However, after Liu Shaoang and Liu Shaolin changed countries in 2022, China, which had a lot of talent, continued to strengthen, while Hungary lost two of its strongest competitors. In this year's World Cup series, the Liu brothers have already competed in Chinese colors against the Hungarians, and in Dresden the two relay teams once again had a qualifying race.
The Liu brothers do not compete
The paper form promised Italian and Chinese advancement, even though the Asian national team leading the WC points competition arrived in Germany with not the strongest composition, Liu Shaoang and Liu Shaolin will miss the entire competition weekend.
There was also a problem with the Hungarian national team, after his illness, Bence Nógrádi could not be a member of the relay, instead Márk Csizmadia skated alongside Balázs Bontovics, Péter Jászapáti and Dániel Tiborcz.
The Italians validated the paper format and won the race, while Hungary took second place in a close race and reached the semi-finals at the expense of China.
Our women's relay (Luca Sára Bácskai, Zsófia Kónya, Barbara Somogyi, Rebeka Sziliczei-Német) can also appear in the semifinals, while Bontovics reached the quarterfinals in the 1000m, Kónya Kónya reached the quarterfinals in the 1000m, and Sziliczei-Német the semifinals in the 1500m.
