The president of the European People's Party is trying to generate internal tension in the ECR so that the Giorgia Melonis do not accept Fidesz after the EP elections.

Manfred Weber is putting increasing pressure on the European Conservatives and Reformers (ECR) party family not to accept Fidesz after the European Parliament elections - this is how the Corriere della Sera report can be summarized.

Because the leader of the European People's Party has done everything in the past period to generate internal tension in the ECR.

It is impossible to ally with Vladimir Putin's friends and those who oppose the rule of law, Weber stated at his latest press conference.

According to him, the Czechs, Finns and Swedes do not want to belong to the same party family with Viktor Orbán, and he has already warned Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni about this.

Until now, however, the anti-Hungarian Romanian party, AUR, has indicated that it will not join the ECR if Fidesz joins.
