Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary responsible for international communications and relations, can take over the role of Alexandra Szentkirályi on government news, after the previous government spokesperson is competing for the mayorship of Budapest.

It became final on Thursday that Alexandra Szentkirályi (who, before her position as government spokesperson, was the deputy mayor of Budapest between 2014 and 2019) will be the candidate for mayor of the governing parties in the municipal election.

Alexandra Szentkirályi later indicated in a Facebook post that she would no longer be government spokesperson.

After that, effective March 15, the government revoked Alexandra Szentkirályi's appointment as the government commissioner responsible for domestic communications and the development of the country brand. Former mayor István Tarlós called it a good decision that Fidesz is running for him, and also indicated that he would be happy to help him in the campaign. However, it has been questionable until now who will be his successor on the government news, where he appeared together with Gergelly Gulyás until now. In this regard, atv.hu was informed that

Alexandra Szentkirályi can be replaced by Zoltán Kovács on government information.

Kovács will not be unfamiliar with the role, as he has appeared at these events several times, for example last December he appeared at the end-of-year government briefing held by Viktor Orbán.

In the video announcing her candidacy for mayor, Alexandra Szentkirályi emphasized that

"the nation's capital is in the custody of Ferenc Gyurcsány, who made Gergely Karácsony mayor".

He also called Karácsony an expired record of left-wing politics before 2010, which has been running for five years.

It's time to replace this expired disk. The nation's capital deserves a mayor who does not fight against the government, but cooperates with the government

- said the mayor candidate of Fidesz.
