A man who threatened the Ministry of Finance with an explosion was quickly apprehended and detained on Thursday, the Budapest Police Headquarters announced on police.hu.

In the morning, the 48-year-old suspected perpetrator called 112 by saying that he had placed a bomb in the ministry building. Firefighters from the Emergency Police searched the ministry's downtown building and the under-renovation building in the Buda Castle, but they did not find any explosive devices.

The police have launched an investigation against an unknown perpetrator for the crime of threatening to seriously disturb public peace.

The suspected perpetrator was identified within a few hours, and then the XVIII. was captured in the district.

The man was questioned as a suspect, then taken into custody, and his arrest was initiated, reports police.hu.
