Good news came from Government Information.

The government is launching a program to support the energetic renovation of family houses built before 1990 with a budget of HUF 108 billion from EU funds, government spokesperson Eszter Vitályos announced on Thursday in Budapest.

He said that a non-refundable grant of HUF 2.5-3.5 million is available for the thermal insulation of the external walls, the replacement of windows and doors, the modernization of the domestic hot water system and the heating system.

In districts with a lower than average average income, families can use higher support.

In connection with the investments, it is expected that energy savings of at least 30 percent must be achieved. This can be achieved by replacing the doors and windows and external insulation, said the Government Information.

In addition to the owners' own resources, the cost of the investment is covered by an interest-free loan and a non-refundable grant, the latter totaling HUF 6 million.

The program is run by the Hungarian Development Bank (MFB), the support can be applied for at the MFB branches of commercial banks. The program generates HUF 127 billion in investments in the domestic construction industry, so it supports the recovery of the sector through private investments and contributes to the government restarting the economy in 2024.
