It feels like I won the Olympics - said Boldizsár Nagy about his success at the Model UN conference in New York.

Two years ago, Boldizsár stood up to give a speech with shaking hands, but today he feels comfortable in debate situations. He told hirado.hu that he is interested in the world of diplomacy and healthcare.

19-year-old Nagy Boldizsár received the "best delegate" award at a conference that "simulated" the functioning of the UN. Boldizsár's task was to represent the United States in the UN Security Council.

It feels like I won the Olympics. I still can't quite believe it!

- said Boldizsár, who is a graduate student of the Mátyás Király High School in Fonyód.

The Future We Want MUN -Fwwmun is one of the world's largest and most prestigious UN model conferences, which is organized with the cooperation of the UN, with nearly a thousand participants from 193 countries around the world.

"It was surprising how many nations gathered, but I was the only one from Hungary there. The conference was held at a very high level, everyone took it completely seriously and debated so intensively and decisively, which I have not yet experienced at other MUN conferences"

- explained Boldizsár, who was also the youngest participant in the series of negotiations. He added: this competition is also unique because topics that are on the UN agenda are discussed.

The most exciting and motivating part of the whole thing was that the resolutions we came up with will be sent to the real Security Council.

"Humanitarian aid is very close to my heart, so I researched and outlined a solution to real problems affecting civilians. I faced a lot of opposition, so it was quite difficult, but in the end I managed to get everyone to vote for my motion"

Boldizsár elaborated on that event, emphasizing how important it was to be willing to compromise, determined and purposeful at the same time.

"For example, maintaining a ceasefire in a war conflict is a problem. This is when peacekeeping operations come into play, which are based on the mutual agreement of the member states participating in the conflict. With peacekeeping operations, my goal, as the US delegate, was to strengthen the role and framework of these operations, as well as their strategic and infrastructural implementation."

- explained one of the cases that arose.

Boldizsár told hirado.hu that he already won a competition in Prague in March as part of "Porgmun 2024". The winner is interested in the world of diplomacy and healthcare. According to him, he would like to work for the UN in the future, even as a researcher. In his spare time, he likes to go to exhibitions, cinema, and theater.

As it turned out, two years ago, Boldizsár stood up to give a speech with trembling hands, but today he feels comfortable in debate situations. He is a pillar member of the Milestone MUN Society and attends many competitions.

"You have to dream as big as you already think is foolishness, because if you give some of it down, you can still reach your goals"

- he recalls a piece of good advice that he also believes in.
