Kylian Mbappé, the star of the French national football team, at his team's press conference in Düsseldorf, called attention to participation in the upcoming French parliamentary elections and to preventing extremists from coming to power. According to the captain of the national team, "the situation is more important than Monday's match against Austria".

After his immigrant teammates, the captain of the French national team, Kylian Mbappé, also called on his compatriots to take part in the early elections held on June 30 and July 7, which were announced by French President Emmanuel Macron after the European Parliament elections.

"I see that we are going through fateful days in France," emphasized the star, whose mother is an Algerian Berber and whose father has Cameroonian ancestry. "First and foremost, we are citizens and we cannot be indifferent." An unprecedented situation has developed in our country. That is why I am addressing the people, especially the young people. We can see that the extremists are standing at the gate of gaining power, so I ask the young people to go and vote! We must identify with the values of our country, every vote counts, and I trust that we will make the right choice."

Marcus Thuram called for a vote against the far right, and Mbappé joined his partner:

I share the values that Marcus stands for. There is freedom of speech and this is my opinion. Again, I am against extremism because it divides people. Unfortunately, most young people are indifferent, but I urge them to go vote. I want my message to reach them. I want to be proud of my country and I want this country to represent my values. This is now more important than the match against Austria. I believe in diversity, tolerance and respect for others.

Kylian Mbappé did not name specific politicians or parties, unlike his teammate Marcus Thuram, who spoke about the need to prevent Le Pen's National Collapse from coming to power. Earlier, Dembélé and Thuram also spoke about the elections.

The French football federation asked the media not to ask the players questions about the election, but said it respected freedom of speech.
