The president of Tisza wants to avoid being held accountable by not waiving his immunity.
Manfred Weber must immediately declare whether the People's Party representatives maintain Péter Magyar's immunity, Fidesz European Parliament (EP) representative Tamás Deutsch said on his Facebook page on Sunday.
Tamás Deutsch emphasized: Manfred Weber, the leader of the European People's Party's European Parliament group and Péter Magyar's faction leader, is being addressed to immediately declare whether the People's Party representatives "will protect Péter Magyar completely illegally", creating an opportunity for him to escape by hiding behind his immunity impeachment.
Deutsch recalled: on the night of the disco scandal, "when Péter Magyar drunkenly harassed underage girls", he threatened the guest who was filming him, hit him and stole his phone, and after he was kicked out of the "teen party", he threw the phone into the Danube.
"Don't let recordings of him emerge again that reveal that Péter Magyar is very much not who he seems," remarked the Fidesz EP faction leader.
"Stealing is a common law crime. The theft became a criminal case, and in order to bring the president of the Tisza Party to court, the European Parliament's immunity will have to be voted on," Tamás Deutsch pointed out.
"Although Péter Magyar previously opposed the right of immunity, now he has no intention of being responsible for his actions, instead he ran to the pro-war and immigration Manfred Weber so that his people would protect him during the vote," stated Deutsch, according to whom the Tisza president wants to avoid prosecution by not waiving his immunity.
