For many EU representatives, what was said at the meeting evaluating the situation of the Transcarpathian Hungarian minority seemed like a novelty. They cannot even imagine what trials the Hungarians living in Transcarpathia are subjected to. László Brenzovics, president of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (KMKSZ), spoke about this on Kossuth Rádió Good morning, Hungary! in broadcasting.

The pressure on the Transcarpathian Hungarian minority is increasing. As of March 2021, the Ukrainian authorities were ordered to search for dual citizens in preparation for the regulation of dual citizenship, thereby issuing a decree to list Ukraine's own citizens, the Transcarpathian politician said in an interview recently.

At the initiative of Fidesz MEP Andrea Bocskor,

The Transcarpathian politician, who gave an assessment of the situation at the meeting, said that since 2014, the situation of the Hungarian minorities in the country has become increasingly sad and hopeless.

László Brenzovics , such meetings are important because many EU representatives cannot even imagine how many trials the Transcarpathian Hungarian minority is exposed to.

At the meeting, it was decided to inform the leaders of the European Union about the situation of the Hungarian minority by letter.

Gál Kinga , the co-chairman of the working group, pointed out that the rights of Ukrainian minorities, including Transcarpathian Hungarians, are being undermined more and more every week.

"They limit their right to education and the use of the language, and Hungarian organizations are exposed to continuous harassment," he listed the examples.

He also mentioned the regulations related to dual citizenship.

As is known, according to a presidential decree at the end of February, Ukraine prohibits dual citizens from holding any office in the country, which grossly discriminates against Transcarpathian Hungarians.

László Brenzovics said that the hopes that the Hungarian minority expected from President Volodymyr Zelenskij were not fulfilled. Regarding education rights, the policy of the previous head of state, Petro Poroshenko, is being continued.
