Hungary will help Slovakia in testing the Russian vaccine against coronavirus ordered by Bratislava, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced today in Budapest, after a meeting with Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Igor Matovic.

Péter Szijjártó stated that Slovakia asked Hungary to help in the inspection of the vaccine coming from Russia. Hungary is happy to comply with this, as it has the necessary knowledge and internationally accredited laboratory capacity.

He emphasized: Hungary is very happy to help Slovakia so that they can save the lives and health of as many Slovak people as possible.

Péter Szijjártó called the defense cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia exemplary . He recalled that the two countries helped bring each other's citizens home: Slovakia brought home 93 Hungarian citizens in the first phase of the epidemic, and Hungary brought home 56 Slovak citizens. Among other things, he also noted that 197 Hungarian medical professionals helped with the mass testing in Slovakia.


Igor Matovic thanked Péter Szijjártó and Hungary for the friendly relationship and emphasized that the two countries can mutually rely on each other.
He said that he came to Budapest to "find a helping hand" and to have the Sputnik V vaccine tested in
- (Network of Official Medicine Testing Laboratories) In Slovakia, the vaccine has been stored in a refrigerator for six weeks, while it could save health and lives.
