Romanian politics is always consistent in one thing: it says bad things or nothing at all about the Hungarians (Hungarian state, Hungarian leaders, Hungarian politics, Hungarian holidays). If, for example, they send a separate message to Hungarians in Romania on the occasion of March 15, the text is forced, whiny, and it shows that it is the product of political compulsion and not comradely compassion.

That is why it is surprising, what is more: it is suspicious if a Romanian party leader brings up Budapest as a positive example, horribile dictu, and suggests the preparation of joint action for the benefit of the Romanian and Hungarian minorities in Ukraine. At a press conference, according to the Romanian news agency, ClaudiuTârziu , the co-chairman of the party, the Alliance for the Unification of Romanians (abbreviated as AUR), stated that he considers Hungary's national policy to be exemplary and calls for his party to enter into an alliance with the RMDSZ, the Romanians in Ukraine and in defense of Hungarians. Boots on the table - dilemmas arise...

I have a lot of questions. What would it bring to Hungarian politics if they acted together with politicians from Bucharest against the policy that harshly discriminates against Ukrainian minorities? Why does a Romanian politician believe that joint action with the Hungarians in the issue of minority politics can be beneficial for him? If Kiev is fighting with the big Russian bear, and its goal is to "teach the Russians in Ukraine to behave" and the rights of the Hungarian and Romanian minorities are collateral losses according to the political thief's language, then why would the joint action of Romanian and Hungarian mean more than the steps initiated separately ?

The basis of the statement is not incidental at all. Bucharest has provided scholarships from state funding to young people who have learned or want to learn Romanian. And this was left out of the Romanian budget this year - I don't know why. The senator visited the Romanian community in North Bukovina and brought the complaint from there, which he forwarded to the government in Bucharest. The visit was also an opportunity for him to find out that the Hungarians living in Ukraine receive significant cultural support from Budapest, there are Hungarian schools and a Hungarian university. According to Agerpress, he stated categorically: "Hungary's concern for the Hungarian communities living beyond its borders can be a model for other countries as well."

In another context, I would write: this is pure speech. However, as a minority Hungarian, I see that politicians and public figures of all kinds protest when targeted support for Transylvanian Hungarians comes from Budapest. There are many examples of this, above all from the world of economic subsidies.

There may be a political trick or a case of political derailment... The future will show this. The essence is shown in the continuation of the story. The senator, who wanted to stand out, also revealed to the press that one of the leading figures of the RMDSZ made an offer of cooperation to the co-chairman of the AUR in the issue he raised. See the horse's leg sticking out? The senator raised a question and praised Budapest's minority policy, to which the RMDSZ jumped immediately, let's work together. The piquancy of the situation is that the RMDSZ is a coalition member of the government attacked by the senator.

Lóránd Turos , the leader of the Senate faction of the RMDSZ, categorically denied that anyone, at any time, for any reason, had proposed cooperation to the AUR party...

What happened then? A compliment was given with intent to destroy credit. Although Claudiu Târziu is new to politics, he noticed an opportunity for political maneuvers that had not been used so far...

Shall we cry or laugh?
