He said that the trend is definitely positive, but he cannot say that we are over the difficulty. We are counting on two fundamentally important factors, he said.
One is the so-called reproduction rate, which shows how many additional people a person can infect. As a result of the strict measures taken, the reproduction rate fell to 0.7, but with the spread of the British mutant, the reproduction rate doubled to 1.34. This has now fallen back to around 0.7 thanks to the success of the defense , he added.
Another Hungarian specialty is the possibility to measure the virus concentration of wastewater. I can say with pleasure that at the moment this data also shows a favorable trend , he emphasized.
The Minister of Medicine said repeatedly: test results show that all vaccines in Hungary are extremely effective. The indicators of the table published on the effectiveness of vaccines were distorted in the opposition press.
The minister explained: the highest percentage of the population must be vaccinated as quickly as possible. The pace is extremely fast. This week, they will be able to administer approximately 1 million vaccines to the Hungarian population.
The head of the ministry also spoke about oncology screenings: there was a lot of distortion and slippage on the part of the opposition in this regard, and it is still not over. Population-level oncology screenings mean that healthy people of a given age group without symptoms or complaints are examined over a period of 2-3 years, on a call-in basis, so that the tumor can be detected in its initial state in order to be able to treat them effectively. There is a very conscious confusion of cancer diagnostics and screenings , he added.
Diagnostics means that if someone feels the slightest deviation or complains and reports to the care facilities or hospitals, the tests must be carried out immediately at every moment of the epidemic. This procedure has not been damaged even during the pandemic.
At the end of the interview, the minister also said: if the opposition wanted to do good to the people, they should have emphasized that as many people as possible should participate in the screening tests, and they should have followed the Hungarian people for deliberate slips.
