The mayor proposed another unsecured debt. This also shows that if he gets into government, as we are used to from the left, a series of irresponsible loans would begin. According to the plan just presented, Hungary should call on the entire credit line offered by
EU recovery fund You should hit it in the ass, as we would say with the plague!

On Sunday, Mayor Gergely Karácsony presented the alternative plan of the Association of Hungarian Municipalities (MÖSZ) on the use of new EU funds. The co-chairman of Párbeszéd and MÖSZ said in the presentation broadcast on Facebook that "Hungary is squandering a historic opportunity" if it misuses the HUF 6,000 billion that the EU makes available to the country.

He pointed out that they do not agree with the government that Hungary should only take the 2,500 billion forint non-refundable aid from the EU, because they think that the 3,500 billion forint credit line should also be called, since it can be used on much better terms than the cabinet Chinese or Russian credits. Gergely Karácsony emphasized that while the government pours EU funds into concrete and iron and uses them to build clientele, they try to deliver these funds to the people, and local governments are a great help to them in this.

The mayor explained that their plan is based on four pillars, of which the strengthening of social solidarity is the most important, and 45 percent of the resources, 2,705 billion, would be used for this purpose. After that, the second largest amount, 2,070 billion forints, would be spent on action against climate change, in addition, 725 billion forints will be allocated to strengthen digitalization, and 500 billion forints will be allocated to getting the economy back on its feet. As an example, Gergely Karácsony mentioned that more than HUF 1,000 billion would be spent on improving housing conditions, HUF 695 billion on eradicating child poverty, and HUF 135 billion on extending the job search allowance.

He also said that 300 billion forints are planned for the construction of two central hospitals, 100 billion forints for the development of health infrastructure, and 290 billion forints would be given to improve equal opportunities in kindergartens and schools. The mayor stated that the aim of their plan is to create a fairer country committed to the future through the smart use of EU funds. He indicated that their plan will be submitted to social dialogue and that they are happy to discuss it with the government as well.

The government has made it clear that it is only possible to think about the recovery fund in a responsible way: the demand and plan for the budget consolidation starting in 2022 is an important aspect in that the government is only asking for subsidies from the RRF for the time being and is waiting for the loan issue for the time being, because it is he has the flexibility to decide on the implementation of the projects planned with the RRF loan from the Hungarian budget, and he has time to prepare projects. - It can be read on portfolio.hu
