Hungary's self-sufficiency in the production of vials also used for virus tests is increasing, the Minister of Finance announced on Saturday in a video uploaded to his social media page.

Mihály Varga announced that the government supported the HUF 1.7 billion investment of Jako-Meditec in Szekszárd with HUF 1.6 billion budget support. The minister called it gratifying that the number of jobs at the company doubled to 70 with the capacity expansion.

He emphasized: the completed development is one of the tangible results of the Health Industry Support Program. So far, 58 investments have been agreed in the program, 10 of which have already been completed. These contributed to protecting a total of 1,500 jobs, he added.

He recalled: in the past period, Vajda-Papír already produced more than 50 million protective masks, and sold a significant part of them. In addition, ten million favipiravir tablets were produced at the Meditop plant in Pilisborosjeno. And F-Team Kft., which produces 140,000 disinfectant dispensers per year, will start deliveries to hospitals, he informed.

Mihály Varga emphasized: the developments will continue, the government will make further decisions to strengthen the health industry.

In the video published in the post, it was said: because of the coronavirus epidemic, there was a strong demand for Jako-Meditec's products, as the vials they also produce are necessary for testing and investigating the coronavirus.

They explained: in 2019, they produced 15 million vials, last year thanks to the support they received, this was increased to 30 million, of which they were able to provide more than two million to Hungary. This year, they are expected to exceed the 70 millionth production batch, currently 67 percent of their vials are produced due to the coronavirus.

In the video, they also presented a machine purchased with the help of government support, which was developed together with a Hungarian company, and together they also developed a fully automated process.
