The Romanian government has updated the epidemiological classification of countries. According to the new list, Hungary has become a green country from which you can travel to Romania without restrictions.
On the RMDSZ information website about the virus situation, korona.rmdsz.ro, they remind
people from green countries can enter Romania freely.
As of last week, the authorities in Bucharest are classifying countries in the so-called green zone, where in the last two weeks the proportion of newly diagnosed coronavirus patients is one and a half thousandths of the population or less. The yellow zone includes countries with an infection rate of between one and a half to three thousand, and countries with an infection rate of over three thousand are classified in the red zone. Decisions on updating the classification of countries are applied 24 hours after their adoption. The epidemiological classification of the countries by the Romanian authorities can be viewed here.
In the meantime, it is still possible to enter Hungary from Romania only in exceptional cases, and in possession of a protection card issued by the Hungarian state,
which can also be applied for by Hungarian citizens living in Romania and vaccinated here.
As Romanian citizens, with a few exceptions, those entering Hungary can still only visit the 30-kilometer area of the border, and must return within 24 hours. In addition, transit passengers can also enter if they leave Hungary on the designated route.
