British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who ultimately led the United Kingdom out of the Union, has now also married in an unusual way. Secretly!

His wife, Carrie Symonds, is currently one of the senior advisors of Oceana, a non-profit global organization founded to protect the marine environment.

According to consistent British press reports on Sunday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds, whom the Prime Minister had engaged to in December 2019, were secretly married.

According to reports from the two largest British Sunday tabloids, The Sun on Sunday and Mail on Sunday, the wedding took place on Saturday in Westminster Cathedral, the main church of the Anglo-Welsh Catholic community in London. According to the papers, the preparations for the ceremony took half a year, but the planning was surrounded by such secrecy that even the high-ranking staff of the Prime Minister's Office in London did not know about the future wedding of the Prime Minister and his fiancee.

In accordance with the restrictions aimed at curbing the coronavirus epidemic, only 30 invited guests could participate in the wedding, but Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds only sent them the invitations six days before the ceremony. According to The Sun, visitors to the church were asked to leave minutes before the ceremony, saying the building would be closed. Carrie Symonds arrived at the cathedral in a limousine and wore a long snow-white dress with no veil.

56-year-old Boris Johnson is married for the third time, but this is the first marriage for his 33-year-old wife. Johnson is the first British Prime Minister in 199 years to marry while in office: the last time he married Robert Banks Jenkinson, i.e. Lord Liverpool, was the incumbent Prime Minister of Great Britain in 1822.

Downing Street announced on February 29 last year that Johnson had become engaged to his partner a few weeks earlier. At the same time, the spokesperson of the prime minister's office announced that Carrie Symonds is expecting a child. The couple's first child together was born on April 29 last year at the University College London hospital and was named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson.

At the time, Carrie Symonds revealed on her Instagram page: with the name Wilfred, one of Boris Johnson's grandfathers was remembered, with the first name Lawrie, one of his grandfathers, and with the name Nicholas, they paid tribute to two doctors, Nick Price and Nick Hart, because they saved Boris's life. Carrie Symonds was referring to the fact that Boris Johnson suffered from the Covid-19 disease caused by the new coronavirus in April last year, was treated for a week at St. Thomas Hospital in London, and needed intensive treatment for three days. During his convalescence, the conservative prime minister said in his video message published on Twitter: there is no doubt that the doctors and nurses of St. Thomas hospital saved his life.

Boris Johnson entered into his first marriage in 1987 with Allegra Mostyn-Owen, from whom he divorced in 1993, and in the same year he married Marina Wheeler, with whom he had four children. The couple separated in 2018 and officially divorced just weeks before Boris Johnson got engaged to Carrie Symonds. Until her marriage on Saturday, Carrie Symonds was the first prime minister's partner in modern British political history who did not live as the prime minister's spouse in Downing Street's official residence.

Carrie Symonds was communications director of the ruling British Conservative Party for a year from 2018, but left that position in 2019 when Johnson was elected prime minister. He is currently one of the senior advisors of Oceana, a non-profit global organization founded to protect the marine environment.
